Nightstalker Game Report by Carol Anne Gallant

The day dawned bright and clear as the Brainship SN904 landed on the planet Kethris. The disembarking mercenaries were quickly led to the central council chambers were the Lady ke'Morgan greeted them and gave them the Fledging Night stalker samples for their tricorders. The mercs quickly dispersed as they were made aware that it was only 2 hours until sunset, and the Fledglings became more intelligent and dangerous as the sun set.

The first kill of the day was credited to Hieraco of the Space Orcs. The first few hours went fast and furious as the mercs fought group after group of mindless Fledglings. Around dusk, however, something horrifying happened. The La dy ke'Morgan was attacked and left to die by a Master Nightstalker. She was quickly discovered by her true husband Veren di'Shena, who had fled off-planet two years before. A pair of matched daggers and a sword provided a psionic link between the two, all owing Veren to keep track of her health. He rushed to the clearing outside council chambers to find a huge magical circle surrounding her. As her last coherent action before lapsing into bloodlust Vrista had surrounded herself with a circle of protection in the hopes of preventing any unnecessary deaths. Witnessed by the Sleeper Vampires, Vance Simmons (Jeremy Dennison), Ripper (Steve Fox), and the Master Vampire Lady Sethra (Karalee Morrison), Veren (Wayne Chisholm) ended his loves life and began a comba t, that was to last many hours, in an attempt to kill the usurper Dorian di'Morgan (Nathan Graves) better known as Dorian Lewis and the True Lord Odonis, Master Nightstalker.

With the Space Orcs at his side, he tried without success to kill Dorian. Distracted at one fatal instant by the second severing of his psionic link when Lady Sethra dropped her daggers, Veren was injured by "YOU", a construct belon ging to the sleeper Dee, and he fell. As he fell, the other two teams of mercs began to attack determined to wipe out Vampires, Nightstalkers, and any one else who got in the way. Determined to save his master, Vance Simmons enlisted the aid of Lady Sethr a and spirited Vance away to heal and perhaps to return and fight another day. As the wrath of Death Sentence and Corporal Scales fell upon him so too did Dorian flee to go into isolation and plan once more. Escorted to the Council Chambers the survivors of the three merc teams were paid for those they had killed and were escorted to a ship that would take them off planet. Having discovered that this planet was occupied by three different species, Nightstalkers, Humans, and Vampires, all of the mercs swor e to never return, no matter how rich the reward.

The Burning question being did the following survive the wrath of their teammates as they were discovered to be Nightstalkers:

Blade Rider, Undead Nightstalker of the Space Orcs

Dee, Undead Nightstalker of the Tech Team

Farseer, Undead Nightstalker of the Death Sentence Merc Group

An offer was extended to the Space Orcs to remain on the planet as planetary guards, will they accept?

Deprived of his creator, Ripper decided to remain on the planet to aid Veren in his fight to destroy Dorian, standing with Vance Simmons, Veren's loyal servant, and Lady Sethra, Veren's new mate. And as the sun rose on another day o n Ketris the remaining Nightstalkers slept as Dorian plotted, someday he would destroy his rival, this he swore.

New Policies

During the last Board Meeting the board voted on several items which may interest you. The following new policies are:

1. There will be a set experience point reward for GM's running a game. GM's will be awarded 8 points for a 1 Day game and 12 points for a 3 Day game. These points will be recalculated retroactively for this year. This means an incr ease in points for most of you who ran a game this year.

2. GM's must present a full plan for awarding experience points when they present their budget to the Board. This plan must include bonuses and penalties to cover as many potentials as possible. Also, the Board Rep must be consulted before any experience points are awarded.

3. The Board will no longer be accepting volunteers for Board Rep instead anyone who wishes to become a Board Rep will be placed on a list and the Board will select from this list. The duties of a Board Rep will be explained in the questionnaire, but be forewarned being a Board Rep is not for wussies.

4. Players will not be allowed to spend points they do not have. If you are a new player a GM will be within his/her rights to grant you enough points to build your character. If you have played before you must borrow points from an other player if you do not have enough point to build your character.

5. Field Trip seems to be low in members that are Safety + Security qualified (recent CPR and First Aid). Currently there are only 4 members who are fully certified and, well, one of those lives in B.C. In order to increase the amou nt of qualified members and relieve some of the burden from those 4 who are qualified the Board will pay for First Aid courses for the first four members to apply. Accepted applicants will S.S. at least one game per year. Applications will only be accepted with your questionnaire.

6. Also discussed at the Board Meeting was the subject of the Rules it was decided that the rules will not be published in Alpha format till the new year and we will have a Rules + Referee's meeting to discuss what needs to be fixed and how. Anyone on the committee list from the last newsletter will be notified as to when and where the meeting(s) will take place. Anyone who is not currently on the Rules committee can phone me (Russell Rait 469-1336) and I will add them to the list a nd have them contacted for the meeting. If anyone wants a copy of the Beta rules in the meantime contact Paul (464-0644) and he will supply you with a copy.

As usual Fieldtrip will be running demos at the con, the first demo will be run by Dale Roberts and will be for Fieldtrip members only. The second demo will be run by Carol Ann Gallant and will be for all comers. Also at the con Col in Hoeg will be doing Character Generation for the December 3rd game "Path of the Master". Lunch Television

In case any of you were not aware Fieldtrip was on Lunch TV during "Space Week" We participated in a skit with Mark Schultz in which we tried to take over the station only tofind it was too primitive for our designs. The Board would like to thank the following for their time and efforts. All participants earned 2 points for their efforts and another 1 point for the drivers. With any luck we will have a tape available to be shown in the Fieldtrip suite at Novacon.
