As Vargas opened the treasure chest he held his breath in anticipation. Upon seeing the contents he realized he had struck it rich and found the greatest of treasures, the first Fantasy Fieldtrip newsletter of 1995. Welcome, one and all to another instalment of our newsletter, the Board hopes you all had fun during the holidays, and will enjoy this years activities more than the last.

ART CONTEST

Fieldtrip is sponsoring an art contest in order to select a front for a FFTS T-shirt. The front of the shirt will contain the art of the winner of this contest, and the back will have our infamous FFTS logo. Any persons wishing to s ubmit art should do so before the next general meeting, and your work of art must be four colours or less. The contest winner(s) will receive a beautifully crafted FFTS T-shirt and a nifty award certificate. These T-shirts will should be available sometim e in april and will cost fifteen dollars each.

GENERAL MEETING

The first General Meeting will be at the end of march, exact date T.B.A. in future publications and/or by phone-around. This meeting will include elections and game proposals for april/may. Art submissions will be made at this time as well.

CON COMMITTEE

This well organized committee has already held its first meeting, a tribute to its head, Catherine Coates, who shows us what organizational skills can do for you. Catherine and her committee provided the Board with six pages of "typ ed" minutes from their first meeting outlining their objectives and the resources they needed to complete the job. All and all, an outstanding start, congratulations Catherine.

This committee was created by the Board to act as a liaison between Fieldtrip and the various local conventions. They will be responsible for the shape of our room at Novacon for example. One of the ideas this braintrust has come up with is to make our next Novacon room a medieval "theme" room. All personnel on duty in the room will be in costume. If all this sounds interesting to you then the Con committee wants you! The next committee meeting is February 21st at Chris Stockley's a t 7pm.

PROPS MEETING

The next props meeting will be held February 18th at Paul Verreault's at 2pm. Anyone interested in fixing or creating props is urged to attend, there will be a phone-around to remind committee members before the meeting.

NEW POLICY

There will now be a Rules Rep assigned to each Game master as well as a Board Rep. Rules Reps will be assigned by the Board from available experienced Refs. The duties of the Rules Rep will be:

  1. Train any new referees

  2. Talk to all refs on game making sure that they are fluent with all rules pertaining to that game.

  3. Look over all monsters in order to keep things balanced

  4. Anything else rules related (new rules, modified rules, etc) must be run by the Rules Rep for verification
