Hello, I hope everyone that attended the Scout Game had as much fun as I did. For all of you that did not make it, boy did you miss out!

Scouts Fantasy Adventure '95

The scout game was a raving success, once again assuring us that we will be able to use Camp Harris as our three day site in September. The scouts treated us like royalty this year even though there were not as many members as I had hoped showing up. I had loads of fun asking the scouts riddles all day, a correct answer got them 2 Gold. Of course it was even more fun when Bryce as Bludgeon was dragging the scouts over to see me so he could answer one of my riddles. I am a little disappointed that we could not get more people to show up for this game. We have a better turn out on any one day game that Fieldtrip runs. Playing this game with the scouts is a lot of fun and allows us the use of the site for our three day game. Maybe next year we will have a better turn out. Here is a little reward for those of you who managed to get the time off.

"A Tale of Two Armies"

June 25th 1 Day Game

by Jackie Pettipas

Less than 6 months ago the Vagrians invaded the Drenai empire. In that short amount of time they have won every battle and now there is almost no resistance to their armies. The Drenai cause has been hopeless almost from the start. Despite all of his advisors, the King has for the last 5 years been reducing the army in hopes of presenting the Drenai as a peaceful and non-threatening people. When the Vagrians first attacked, the King was to rally the army and there was a chance that he may have turned the war. This, however, was not to be for shortly after the start of the war the Drenai King was killed by the assassin "Waylander".

Now there is only one fortress that is still resisting the Vagrians. Purdol is commanded by General Karnak, while the remnants of the army lead by General Egel is pinned down in the Skarta mountains. The Vagrian Warmaster Kaem is a tactical genius and it is only a matter of time before he defeats both Generals. The only hope for the Drenai people is the "Horn of Valdare". The horn is the only fear of the Vagrians. If the Drenai obtain the horn they will be able to rally their people . No leader who has possessed the horn has ever lost a battle. The horn has not been seen for 10 years. It is rumoured that the old Drenai King had a vision and knew that he had to move the horn to another location before letting his son become King.

The Drenai desperately need the horn if they are to have any chance at all of winning this war. Both the Vagrians and the Drenai have learned of the general location of the horn. It is within a holy grove of the Nadir people, fierce warriors who hate all other nations. The Nadir will not look well on any who trespass upon their lands for any reason. Both nations have sent forth parties to recover the horn. For the Drenai it is their greatest hope, for the Vagrians, their only fear. Along the way both groups will face many dangers, beasts, and the Nadir. Also rumoured to be in the area is the man who slew the Drenai King, the "Soul Stealer" out for his own purposes, "Waylander the Slayer".

This is a +10 point game for Sunday June 25th, you can phone Jackie or wait for us to phone you to find out what you would like to do.

"The Turtle Moves"

July Three day game

by John Reynolds

"Brothers! Sisters!", "Screw off priest", "No, please, listen. All of you. The Turtle .... Moves! Let me explain .... Ack!"

The priest stares at the arrow protruding uncomfortably from his chest, then as if realising he should already be dead, he collapses into the position of the life-challenged. The small audience that had gathered disperses quietly a nd quickly. This is not the first death of late in Cityname (smallest metropolis in Discworld) and no one is eager to prove that it isn't the last.(see appendix 1)

Many people have been murdered of late, most of them spouting eternal pieces of wisdom like "The Turtle Moves", "The Eternal Swimmer", and "My God, is that an arrow?"

What's going on? What turtle? Moving where? Who cares? It occurs to you that perhaps you should. What if you know something? Worse, what if someone thinks you know something but you don't? Worse yet, what if you do know something bu t you don't know you know but someone else does? (see appendix 2)

This will be a three day participant game with unlimited points set in a fantasy genre based on and set in Discworld.

(1) Veni, Vidi, Volo In Domun Reddire (I came, I saw, I want to go home)

(2) Anyone who can figure that out, please call and explain it to John Reynolds (464-4059).
