Sorry folks, but we actually missed a month for the newsletter. Just too many things were going on at once, so here is your double feature, action packed August/September newsletter.
John?, John?.... Hey has anybody seen John Reynolds, you know the Gamemaster. This was a frequently asked question on the July three day game "The Turtle Moves". John Reynolds is to receive the infamous Award of de Merit for the GM who spent the least amount of time running a game. Coming in at under 150 minutes, John easily snores away any competition. Honestly though, the vast majority of time missed was due to circumstances beyond his control. Well everyone seemed to enjoy themse lves on the game, even without the GM around, hmmm! a new trend perhaps!

GAME REPORT
"HELLRAISER"
GM: Russell Rait
Early Friday night a newcomer crawled into "The Dragon's Lair", and staggered up to the bar to quench his thirst. Once sated, he introduced himself as "Rastagar", and proceeded to regale the other inn dwellers with a tale of dire da nger and woe. As he spoke of the horrors that would be unleashed if "Balor son of Balor" could complete his dream of a permanent gate between Hell and Raithillien, little did he know that a disguised Balor sat only ten feet away. The forces of Law, lead b y Orlzain Lharoy, pledged themselves to attempt to stop Balor from completing his evil dream. The forces of Chaos, snickered openly at Rastagar's prophecy. Those adventurer's not aligned with either side immediately saw the opportunity to create their own kingdom.
What most did not know was that the area they were in was unstable and would collapse within two days of Rastagar's prophecy. Most adventurer's availed themselves of Rastagar's knowledge. In addition to the goods and services suppli ed by the trader "Biturian Varosh", and the healer "Althea". Everyone learned of the ritual necessary to complete their individual goals, and that several runes were needed to power the ritual. Several items of note were discovered along the way by variou s adventurer's. These included: "Nosma's Wig", found by "She'mar", and "Mazoo's Tooth", a tooth of a powerful vampire that would turn its possessor into a vampire. This item caused a little dissension in the ranks of the forces of chaos, as the brothers " Vishrist Skreeg" and "Lord De Vilness" scrambled for the tooth when they found it in a chest of treasure. Many an adventurer was not so lucky, as most hoards of treasure were guarded by potent traps, powerful spirits, or both.
Early Sunday the forces of Law, sought out the famed Puzzle Canal, which they had learned was open the previous night when "Vallisti", a Humakti Runelord attempted a "Heroquest" to open the canal. This attempt succeeded, but cost Va llisti his life in the attempt. Any who braved the Puzzle Canal had to answer many strange questions that even a sage would have to think about. There were also many strange creatures, including Gorps and Bloodbirds, to brave, but if one pressed on they w ould win through to obtain the "Infinity" rune, itself a mark of the gods. No ritual as great as the ones that were to be attempted would be complete without it. Later on that day the forces of Law sought out the trader "Biturian Varosh" and traded spells with him, so that they might be able to summon the elementals needed to complete the ritual. Moments later they started the ritual by summoning the elementals who provided them with the runes of darkness, earth, and movement. Once again Rastagar summoned up the ancestral spirit of his long dead grandmother, who instructed them in the ways of the ritual. Each participant powered the runes, including a permanent sacrifice to the Infinity rune. The last to touch the infinity rune was granted the power, and used it to return the area back to Raithillien, blocking Balor from his goal. Just as the final word of the ritual was spoken, the forces of Chaos came into view. With a blinding flash of light and a sudden upwards surge of the land, all was restored. Bal or fled back to Hell in despair, saying "someway, somehow, they will pay!!!".
Well everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, even if there was a little confusion with regards to the new rules. Everyone liked the flavour of the game, including things like: praying for spells, spirit combat, bound spirits, and Divin e Intervention. There were several great looking costumes, and numerous people were roleplaying with gusto. There are of course, several people who deserve some note for helping with the game, above and beyond the call of duty, as it were. I think Kevin a nd Lorna could have collectively driven to Ontario with the same amount of mileage they put on their cars. Thanks to Sheldon, Dale, Brad Fillipone, and John Lovin for pre-game aid, post-game cleanup, seeding and recovering treasures and temple signs. Of c ourse most people will want to thank Paul for getting sucked into another three day cooking stint. Oh and thanks to Dave Rowlands (a non-fieldtrip member) for driving me back to Camp Harris and helping me clean up the mess we left. Too bad we could not ha ve done this before everyone left, stuff like that could cost us the site in the future. Anyway, enough doom and gloom, here is your much deserved reward for playing such neat and interesting characters so well!! (Base reward for this game was 8 pts) P>

"MOUTH OF MADNESS"
By Kevin Sauder
October 28th
Boston Globe News Flash October 28th, 1921
Professor Malcolm Neville-Brown, Dean of Egyptology at Miskitonic University has announced the discovery of an ancient parchment, ermarkably well preserved, that details a strange history of a race of beings that lived before record ed time. Fundamentalist religious leaders have scoffed at this incredible revelation that flys in the face of accepted dogma. after making the dramatic proclamation, the Professor has been unavailable for comment.
Many interested parties, including this newspaper, have converged on Arkham to get the scoop on this spectacular development, either to debunk the good professor, or prove his theories.
