New Policy

This is not exactly a new policy, just an old one put back into play. The "No Pay, No Play" policy is now being enforced. Last year Fieldtrip was hamstrung by its lack of cash, the primary problem being that folks were playing on ga mes without paying their game fees, as well as playing on games without a current membership. Our current estimate is that we have over $400.00 outstanding in overdue game fees or membership fees. So henceforth, if you show up on game without having paid your fees, including overdue ones, you will be sent home. Sounds cruel I know, but this lack of money almost crippled the society last year, fortunately we had some members with deep pockets who we still owe money to.

Props Report

This is just a notice to remind all of you that utilize our Props Department that the building props is housed in actually belongs to someone. Namely Paul Verreault, who is not pleased with the condition of the building when props a re returned. It seems a lot of people just dump the props in the middle of the floor, hoping that some kindly gremlin will put them away for you. It does not work that way, frankly Paul, Sheldon, and myself are a little tired of picking up after you. If y ou grabbed a weapon or costume off the rack then you obviously know where you swiped it from, please be so kind as to return it to the same spot. Actually so long as it is put away, we would be happy. Numerous Props are getting broken because they get lef t on the floor and someone steps on them in order to get something else. So from here on if you want to borrow a prop sign it out and when your done with it sign it back in and put the prop back where you got it. I don't think that is asking too much. If members don't start following this procedure we may lose that building to house our props!!

Fantasy Adventure '96 - June 1st

Yes, we are once again going to play with all the kids in Scouts Canada, this is a free-style game were you get to make your own characters, and switch characters as often as you like. We expect there will be in excess of TWO HUNDRE D scouts this year, so you will never be bored. For those of you who have not attended our annual Scout fest, this is one of the best games every year, its loads of Fun, its Free, totally Free, and they treat us like royalty, plying us with lunch, supper, and snacks. All you have to do is to make it to our collection point (usually the Dartmouth Shopping Center) and we car pool out to their camp.

This year they want us there early so the game will likely go from 10 am till about 11pm. If you want to attend make sure you name is on the following list of volunteers, if it is not then call me (Russell Rait) and I will include y ou on the list of people to contact about where to show up.

Journey to Godsrealm: A Little Piece of Magic III

by Chantal Boudreau

A Cold wind blows across Arith from a void that exists which was once filled with Magic. People and creatures gather in the shadows, empty now when once they had a purpose, a calling. Now there is nowhere for them to go but the hidd en nooks and crannies in the Attic of life. But out of the silence and the darkness comes a song, a song of sweet potential that gathers them together, summoning a forgotten army:

Four things it takes to make a god

A fact, a pact, and an artifact,

Joined by the sweet sound of a Bard

Rousing those from sleep that will not rise

Four things it takes to break a god

A fact, a pact, and an artifact,

Broken in rage or in ignorance,

While the Bard sings a dirge of divine demise

All this and more but not by mortal hand

Unless they are done within the Gods' land

Seek out the Godsrealm in the dead of night

When Arith has stolen the moon's silver light

Take care that your Avatar's brave and strong

Or they will not hold their new Godhood long

Jealousy's rampant in a true world divine

And the broken god's kin may have vengeful design.

Three groups have heeded the call of the song. The Necromancers, hiding amongst the tombs and crypts of their past power have modeled their avatar, Soulsbane, to their liking and prepare for the lunar eclipse. The past followers of Energia have readied themselves and their avatar, the Lady Syren, also awaiting to avenge their lost goddess. And lastly, the few magical creatures that have chosen not to sleep the long sleep with their kin, are making plans for their avatar, a dragon by the name of Geminus, who they hope will prove to be they answer to their dreams. Night has fallen and the eclipse approaches. The journey to Godsrealm is about to begin!

Game Report

"A Breakfast of Champions"

by Sylvie Chamberlain + Chris Stockley

I would love to tell you exactly what went on last December 2nd at this game, but unfortunately after extensive prodding to both gamemasters neither of them has seen fit to submit an After-Game Report. This vital report gives a syno psis of events that happened on game and an account of who spent what points to make up characters, and who was awarded what points for playing their roles well and accomplishing their goals. Normally, this report is submitted to the Secretary no more tha n a week after the game, for prompt publishing in the next newsletter. Some how the GM's must have thought a little Gremlin was going to do it for them, or if they ignored it long enough it might go away, NOT!! I suggest for all of you who enjoyed the gam e (everybody seemed to have fun) and want to know what happened, or would like the experience points you deserve for participating, to pester the gamemasters at every opportunity until they relent and perform the duty they should have SIX months ago!!

Wolfcon Report

Wolfcon went moderately well, after only a slight delay we had our room set up by late Friday night. Even though there were very few Fieldtrip members at the con (single digits folks!) we still managed to sell over two hundred raffl e tickets. The raffle was an attempt to generate money for Fieldtrip in order to defray the cost of attending the Con. There were numerous prizes for first, second, and third place. These prizes were donated by Chantal Boudreau, Russell Rait, and the frie ndly folks at Mirror Universe. We even managed to keep our room open most of the time, unfortunately no one took up our offer of cheap crash space (another attempt to defray Con costs). Our demo went off without a hitch, thanks to some newbies who monster ed for us, and despite the mass final battle, everyone had lots of fun. Hopefully more than a few of those at the con who signed up for future Fieldtrip events will become full-time members.

FFTS stepping into the future

Fieldtrip is joining those brave souls and is stepping into the future, i.e. we now have an E-mail address and our very own Web page on which you can find out what events we will be holding next. So if you wish to contact Fieldtrip please feel free to E-mail us.
