Okay folks Jeopardy time, Answer - John Lovin's Four day Sci-fi game, Question - Which game did only six players sign up for?
Neo-Olympics Non-Game Report
This game was due to have been run during the August-September Labour day weekend. Unfortunately, as stated above only six players signed up, the total number of people was somewhere around twelve or so. This all seemed very puzzlin g to me, I thought a four day sci-fi game sounded great, obviously I was in the minority. Not wanting the Camp Harris site to go wasted, once John had finally but the axe to his game, I hastily arranged a Fieldtrip Gaming Convention, Price was $10.00 just to cover the cost of food. But we did have three square meals every day (every full day that is) and everybody seemed to have fun playing Civilization, Nuclear War, Magic, Shadowfist, Talisman, Frisbee, etc. Curiously enough, more people showed up for ou r Con than signed up for the game, hmmm!.
Obituary
As it turned out August was a really bad month, one of Fieldtrips long time members, Alan Lees, age 36 died on August 18th, 1996. Alan, the son of Brian and Sonya was survived by his sister, Jennifer Smurthwaite. Alan was a voluntee r for Big Brothers and was with Fieldtrip since Game #2. He was on the Board for Fieldtrip a few times and was even our Vice-President once back when folks actually cared enough about Fieldtrip and the ideas behind it to support it. Alan played many diffe rent characters, the most memorable one for me was the first one I saw him play. Baron Waste, a real bad guy, and not at all like the REAL Alan Lees. This was my very first game and I had so much fun trying to thwart his evil plans that I was hooked, Fiel dtrip was it for me. Now were not exactly sure why such a great, easy going kind of guy like Alan decided to take his own life, but there are more than a few that wished he didn't. In Alan's memory we want to make sure that something like this does not ha ppen again, if you ever have feel that you want to take the same way out, DON'T, call someone, any Board member will be more than happy to talk with you, so we don't lose another precious member like Alan Lees. Alan, you will be sorely missed!

The more things changes, chummer, the more they stays the same.
Welcome to the year 2099 of our Lord Corporate Sponsor, the rich are still rich, the poor are still poor, and the few that still give a crap only give it if it pays NewYen.
It's almost been a century since the Awakening and the buzz on the street says the Corporations are too quite. Some folks think them scientists have got the Awakened figured. I know some of me friends haven't been 'round lately, but who knows? Maybe theys moved on or got a lucky break in the shadows ... or a not so lucky break.
Everyone has a Dream chummer, what's your Dream?
This is a one-day event, based in the realm of Shadowrun, and it will be run during the afternoon and on through the night where the shadows know all and tell nothing. Three teams of elite shadowrunners will be competing against one another to complete their Corporations "requests". This will be a 60pt game so up to 20 points may be spent on character generation. Anything Goes! Contact Brad Bradley to sign up (445-2010).

"Dagramar's Zoo"
by Chantal Boudreau
a Winter Game (Nov - Dec)
Exact date To be announced
Dagramar has always prided himself on having the best zoo around. But lately some of his exhibits have become disgruntled, yearning for the freedom they once had. Although they are free to roam the great space of the zoo as they ple ase, they are unhappy at being trapped within the impenetrable barrier, while Dagramar's "tourists" are permitted to come and go as they please.
Although it was believed that the magical force field constructed from Dagramar's semi-divine powers was impenetrable, rumours now have it that there is a means of escape (aside from having Dagramar's permission to leave). All that is needed is the right key. However, the walls have ears and Dagramar is well aware of these rumours and the planned escape. Will Dagramar's zoo remain complete, his spies keeping him well informed? Or will some persistent zoo exhibit stumble upon the key to guide them to freedom?
This is an unlimited point participant game. There is a limit to the number of specimens of each race, only two each. First come, first serve! So all players will be asked to specify what race they prefer when they sign up.
Falcon Report
Yes, we were at Falcon, and glad of it. The con was one of the best run in years, cool guests, lots of free stuff, great games were to be had by all. The table for Fieldtrip only cost us $20.00 and we made that back and more with ou r Raffle. Fieldtrip once again proved dominant in the Contest of the Societies, winning the trivia contest for the third time in a row, and coming home with a nifty plaque. Unfortunately the Lord Nelson was not too hot on us running around the hotel, so w e did not do our usual Con demos. Even without the demo we did attract a lot of attention and got a few names of potential members. For all of us who helped out at the con here is a small token of our appreciation.

Word on the Street
This was a huge book fair on September 29th, it blocked off about three blocks on Spring Garden Road in Halifax. We had our own table in Sci-fi Alley (Brenton St.) right between the Falcon society and the Wolfcon Society. We sold so me used books donated by various members and we had a raffle which included some neat stuff such as an autographed picture of Nelix from Star Trek Voyager (donated by Wayne Chisholm, Thanks Wayne), a book about writing be James A. Michener (donated by Cha ntal Boudreau), and a dozen Fighting Fantasy books (donated by Martin Sasinek). So with the raffle and our used books going for .50 cents each, we easily made our money back and then some. We also got a few more names for potential members. For all of us loyal slaves who worked the tables till the downpour here is a small reward.
